This design attempts to hybridize different activities like circus events, cinema, BMX stunt facilities and motorcycle racing through a process of "cutting through a space" in order to accomodate the different spatial and programmatic needs of each activity. I chose to work with a very small surface area rather than sprawling my design across the Albany Bulb because it occupies a small footprint and this unconventional way of sharing space between seemingly different activities creates interesting circulation and coexistence.

Array- an interstitual, exhibitionary space

Array is an interdipliscinary union between Wurster and Kroeber Hall through the use of vertical form, transparency, and the abscence and prescence of light. The edifice interweaves the two buildings conceptually and physically via a catwalk bridge made with a transparent glass floor and black aluminum cladding. The elevated and condensed program is made of black-dyed board formed concrete which reinforces the verticality of the entire composition through the repetition of external ridges and creation of deep interior shafts. The accompanying chip board model topographically represents the mass-void relationship of the space while the conceptual renderings show the fiber glass-concrete proportions as well as its monumental scale.

Microscopic Sectional Cuts sampled from the Berkeley Pier and abstracted into "tactile flow" patterns which were then translated into topographical form

"A Mayan Vision Rite Summoning Chac the Rain God" A 3D Animated Film meant to counter negative portrayals of Mesoamerican society by popular media sources.

Music entitled "Popul Vuh" by Tarentel

The project was consciously stylized with Mayan art and architecture in mind. I wanted to explore how Mayan art could come to life by making it voluminous and animated.
